- "Project Phokas: Photography in Rural Villages in
Chennai, India," Michael Nedelman, Unite For Sight 2006 Volunteer
of the Year; Unite For Sight 2007 Conference Presentation. While
a volunteer, Michael implemented a unique project entitled
Project Phokas, in which he distributed donated cameras from
Kodak to give to cataract patients whose sight was restored by
Unite For Sight. While most of the patients had never before used
a camera, and most did not have vision for years, they produced
beautiful, striking, and artistic photos. For his extraordinary
efforts as a volunteer, Michael Nedelman was awarded a 2006 Unite
For Sight Volunteer of the Year Award.
