Ghanaian Ophthalmologists To Speak at 10 Universities
Unite For Sight's partner Ghanaian ophthalmologists Dr. James Clarke and Dr. Seth Wanye and partner ophthalmic nurses Margaret Duah-Mensah and Dennis Baah have an unparalleled ability to inspire and motivate audiences to make an impact in the world. In April 2009, they will offer university audiences a unique perspective on global health, international development, and eye care, as they travel throughout North America to speak at ten universities.

Dr. Wanye’s Presentation Title: “Health in Africa: Perspectives From The Only Ophthalmologist For 2 Million People in Northern Ghana”
Dr. Wanye is an ophthalmologist at The Eye Clinic of Tamale Teaching Hospital in Northern Ghana, coordinator of Unite For Sight's programs in Tamale, and he is a member of Unite For Sight's Medical Advisory Board. He is the only ophthalmologist for more than 2 million people in the Northern Region of Ghana. He is also a part-time lecturer at the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana.

Dr. Clarke’s Presentation Title: “Unite For Sight: A Symbol of Hope for the (Poor) Blind Villagers and Refugees in Ghana”
Dr. Clarke is an ophthalmologist at Crystal Eye Clinic in Accra, Ghana, Director of Unite For Sight's Ghana Programs, and a member of Unite For Sight's Medical Advisory Board. He also holds a Diploma in Community Health and Tropical Medicine from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in Germany. He is the only ophthalmologist providing corneal transplantation in Ghana.

Margaret Duah-Mensah's Presentation Title: “How To Train Community Eye Health Workers in Villages and Refugee Camps: The Impact Of A Community-Based Model"
Margaret Duah-Mensah received her nursing education in the Central Region of Ghana and worked as a general nurse at the Cape Coast Central Hospital. She began work as an ophthalmic nurse in 1989 and has been working with Dr. James Clarke at Crystal Eye Clinic since 2003. Margaret has provided numerous outreach screenings for Unite For Sight programs over the past four years. She provides eye care regularly at Buduburam Refugee Camp and other remote villages throughout Ghana.

Dennis Baah's Presentation Title: “Community Eye Health in Ghana"
Kwame Kissi Dennis Baah is a registered general and ophthalmic nurse. He is registered both in Ghana and the United Kingdom Nurses and Midwifery Councils. In Ghana, he has worked at the university hospital, Emmanuel Eye Center, and Crystal Eye Clnic. He has been a nurse for thirteen years, and he is a member of the Royal College of Nursing, Ghana Registered Nurses Association and Chairman of the Education Committee of the Ophthalmic Nurses Group. He currently works at Crystal Eye Clinic and provides care to patients in rural villages through Unite For Sight’s daily rural village outreach programs.
