Free Airline Tickets For Optometrists and Ophthalmologists

Volunteer optometrists and ophthalmologists apply their skills and training to provide eye care to patients alongside the local eye doctors. Optometrists share knowledge and skills with local optometrists and ophthalmic nurses, while ophthalmologists provide surgical training and skills transfer to local ophthalmologists.

Increasing numbers of Unite For Sight ophthalmologist and optometrist volunteers are bringing their teenage children to accompany them to the Unite For Sight program. The teenagers participate as standard volunteers, while the optometrists and ophthalmologists work with the local eye clinic staff to provide optometric and ophthalmic services. Those interested in this opportunity to encourage to view the video by Dr. Rose, who participated in Ghana with his wife and three teenage daughters.

Volunteer Abroad

Because of the context in which I encountered the profound need, I did not come away with a sense of hopelessness or fatalism. Rather, I came away with the strong sense that it was necessary for me, like the Sinha family of ophthalmologists, to take active part in fixing the problems that I had seen. Indeed, it is impossible to spend two weeks with the Sinha family without coming to understand that a single, motivated person is absolutely capable of changing the world.
